Guest speaking at an English Club session

The Saturday Morning English Club started three years ago in the home of one of the Embassy's employees.  As the club grew in size, it moved to its current location in the MLK Cultural Center's conference room.  Every Saturday from 10am to 12pm, English speakers from all levels and ages gather at the MLK Center to practice their English speaking capabilities.

The Club usually starts with newcomers introducing themselves and taking questions from other club members.  Introductions are followed by either a presentation from a native English speaker and/or a discussion of a specific topic lead by Embassy employees.  Typical discussion topics include life in the U.S., U.S. politics, music, and international affairs.  Club members also discuss movies from the Friday Evening Movie Series. All those interested in improving their English language capabilities are invited to attend.  The English Language Club is free to all participants.

The Embassy is always looking for presentations for the Saturday Morning English Club.  Therefore, if you are a native English speaker in Bangui and/or have an interesting project you wish to present to the English Club, please contact the club's coordinator Genscher Bata Banthas at 75-26-04-57, banthasbng@state.gov or Public Diplomacy Coordinator Guillaumine Gazembeti at 75-50-28-68, GazembetiG@state.gov.
